The staff of Seeds To Empower (currently building) is made up of primarily volunteers with banking, accounting and other financial backgrounds including other small business entrepreneurs. Initial operating costs are limited to sourcing philanthropic donations and fundraising, basic accounting, nonprofit operating software and affiliations, and, infrastructure costs. It is the goal of the nonprofit to ensure maximum percentages of monies go directly to benefit recipients. Operational costs and overhead are always kept to a minimum.
Credit decisions are delegated for smaller dollars to the participants themselves. This is meant to give them an empowered hands-on vision of how to assess business performance and make good decisions. Larger extensions of credit are voted upon by volunteer bankers and underwriters more familiar with making banking decisions. A loan committee operates as a sub-group of the Board of Directors. The board ratifies all lending and grant recommendations.
